From Sticky Mess to Tile Success: A Backsplash Makeover

Sometimes, DIY projects seem like a great idea—until they’re not. That’s exactly what happened when my client attempted a peel-and-stick tile backsplash. The results? Crooked tiles, gaps, and some falling off entirely. Frustrated, they called me to step in.

Fortunately for me, the client already did the first step by removing the tiles that were left. I carefully peeled away the remnants of chipped paint and smoothed the surface. My client chose timeless subway tiles with arctic white grout for the replacement. After measuring and marking the layout, I applied thin-set mortar and set the tiles in place. A fresh layer of grout sealed the deal, transforming the kitchen.

When I revealed the finished backsplash, my client was thrilled. Their kitchen went from "DIY oops" to "Pinterest-worthy" in a single day. Sometimes, it’s worth letting a pro handle the job to save time, frustration, and extra trips to the hardware store. A polished backsplash is always worth it.
