A little bit of this, a little bit of that..

There’s something satisfying about tackling a variety of small projects that collectively make a big difference. As a handywoman, I love bringing practical skills and a keen eye for detail to every job, and this week was no exception. My latest project involved repairing grout on a backsplash, adding a small section of backsplash, caulking gaps and seams, and replacing a doorknob. It was a little bit of everything, but it all came together beautifully.

Repairing Grout on a Backsplash

Grout repairs are often underestimated, but they’re crucial for maintaining both the look and function of tiled areas. My client’s kitchen backsplash had several sections where the grout was crumbling, making the area look untidy and susceptible to water damage. After carefully scraping out the old grout, I applied a fresh, color-matched caulk.

Adding a Small Section of Backsplash

After getting a new stove that no longer had a back on it, the client also wanted to extend the backsplash slightly, covering the bare area.

Replacing a Doorknob

The final task was replacing a worn-out doorknob on the back door that was improperly installed initially. This kind of work is straightforward but still requires attention to detail to ensure proper alignment and secure installation. After removing the old doorknob, I installed the new one, checking that it operated smoothly and locked securely. It’s amazing how such a small change can improve both functionality and appearance.
